ABORTION INSTRUMENTS ARCHIVE

ABORTION INSTRUMENTS ARCHIVE
The largest abortion instrument collection in the world. From Modern instruments to the 16th century.
The most gruesome medical instruments ever made were designed for abortion.

The Grantham Collection condemns all abortion-related violence.
INSTRUMENTS AND TOOLS USED IN SURGICAL ABORTION
Click on the images below to enlarge

Manual Vaccum Aspiration MVA is used to abort a child from 6 weeks to 12 weeks of age. This handheld syringe works by creating its own vacuum/suction. MVAs are used and reused millions of times a year around the world. The major problem with the MVA is that it has a very weak vacuum. This means that the child is ripped apart slowly.
Uterine Currette One side of the loop is sharp for cutting the child apart. The other side scrapes the uterus to remove the placenta.
Syringe with Spinal Needle This abortion instrument's uses include injecting saltwater into the uterus. The baby swallows and breathes the poison. The cause of the death is congestion, hemorrhage and shock. The mother goes into premature labor about a day later and delivers a dead child. The other use is to inject the chemicals (digoxin, potassium chloride, etc.) into the heart of the baby. In both uses, these harsh chemicals soften the child's corpse, making it easier to rip apart and remove.
ForcepsThis abortion tool is used to crush, grasp, and pull the child's body apart.
Embryotomy Scissors
This instrument is used to cut off the head, arms and legs.
Van Huevel's Destructive Forceps with Chainsaw
For dividing the crown of the baby from crown to base.
The Lollini
This perforator was used to perform a craniotomy
on the baby as the preliminary process in collapsing
the skull, which would allow subsequent extraction.
Tire-tete
This abortion intrument's purpose was to hold the baby's head with
the spiked ends. Once the head was held, a long thin probe was
pushed deep into the skull like a sword. The instrument held the baby's head, so once it was cut off, it would not float around in the uterus.
Cranioclast
This abortion instrument was used to crush
the baby's skull so as to allow the extraction.
Tire-TeteThis abortion instrument works by pushing the spike into the child's head. Once it is inside, the button is pushed. When it flattens, you can pull the child out.
Embryotome
This abortion instrument was used to
cut off the baby's head, legs and arms.
Smellie's Double Crochet
This abortion tool was used to grab and rip the baby out.
Jacquemier's Decapitator
This abortion instrument was used to decapitate the child.
Levret's Head Extractor
This abortion instrument's only function was to take out the child's decapitated head.
Decapitator
This abortion instrument was used to stab into the
baby. The handles would be squeezed, which would
then open the blades. You can imagine the rest of it.
Mauriceau's Head Extractor
Jacob Fried's Steel Dagger
This abortion instrument has a long knife blade
that is pushed deep into the baby's head. It has a
blade adjustment and a shield to protect the uterus.
TracHellorHecktor Destructive Hook
The folded hooks are positioned around the back of the neck and the
handles turn apart 180 degrees causing the cervical spine to fracture.
Luer Cranial Perforator
This abortion instrument was used to drill a hole in
the baby's head to collapse the skull for extraction.
Pullhead
This abortion instrument was used to capture
the baby's head once it was cut off.
Braun's Cranial Perforator
This abortion instrument was used to bore a
hole in the baby's skull to allow easier extraction.
Destructive Instruments
Top abortion instrument was used to scoop out the
brain. Middle abortion instrument is a double hook.
Bottom abortion instrument is a single hook.
Tarnier's Basiotribe
This abortion instrument was used for
perforating and crushing the baby's head.
Blot's Cranial Perforators
These abortion instruments were designed to be pushed
into the baby's skull and opened, cutting it into pieces.
Davis' Guarded Crochet
This abortion instrument was used for obtaining a firm grasp
of the baby's head. The heavy crochet has 3 sharp teeth and
was applied to the outside and inside of the cranium.
Blot's Cephalotribe
This abortion instrument was used to crush and flatten the baby's head.
British Decapitator
This abortion instrument has a serrated edge
so cutting the baby's head off would be easier.
Vicarelli's Trephine Cranial Perforator
This abortion instrument was screwed into the baby's head,
causing it to collapse for an easier extraction.
A.R. Simpson's Basilysts
These abortion instruments were screwed into the baby's head.
Once inside the head, the handle was pushed down allowing
a sharp knife to come out and cut the skull into pieces.
Guarded Hook and Crochet
This abortion instrument was used to pull out
the baby. Usually, it only took out a little at a time.
It also guarded against rupturing the uterus.
Dr. Bedford's Double Crochets
This abortion tool was designed to hook into the
baby without ripping into the uterus.
It is believed that this abortion instrument was used to turn the baby around in the uterus. It works by inserting the acorn-like device deep into the baby's mouth. The baby swallows it. After some time, it goes down to the stomach. When the cord is pulled, sharp spikes stab into the baby's belly. The baby can then be forced around and down, making the abortion easier to perform.
Levret's Tire-Tete for removing a decapitated head
L.J. Hubert's Transforator
The olive-shaped end is screwed into the baby's skull
and the hinged blade is passed over the baby's head causing it to split.
Tire-Tete
These abortion instruments were used to grasp the inside and the
outside of the baby's head by stabbing one end of the instrument into the cranium. The teeth would grab into the skull allowing for extraction.
A.R. Simpson's Improved Basilyst
The basilyst was used for the perforation of the baby's skull.
It was screwed in and then the handles pulled down, splitting the head.
Decapitator
This abortion instrument was used to cut off the baby's head.
Cranial Perforator
This abortion instrument was used by stabbing the sharp edge into
the baby's head and then cutting it apart with the built-in scissors.
Perforator
This abortion tool has a long spike that comes out
and goes deep into the baby's cranium.
Bergamini Perforator
This abortion instrument screws into the child's head,
allowing for an easier extraction.
Braun's Cranioclast
This abortion instrument was applied to the baby's head
and then twisted, causing portions of the skull to rip off.
Braun's Trephine Cranial Perforators
These abortion instruments were used to bore a hole in
the baby's head, allowing an easy collapse for extraction.
Conquest Cranioclast
This abortion instrument has large teeth to grip and crush the baby's head.
Cephalotribe with chain and ratchet
This abortion instrument was used to crush and flatten the baby's head.
Spear Perforator
This abortion instrument was used to stab into the baby's head.
Braxton & Hick's Cephalotribe
This abortion instrument was used for crushing the baby's skull.
Abortion Set
Presented to Surgeon W.C. Johnson
By the members of 109th Regiment
Simpson's Impreoved Cranioclast
The purpose of this abortion instrument was to get
a better grip of the baby's head before crushing it.
Holmes' Perforators
These abortion instruments were involved in the
extraction of the baby by collapsing the skull. The joint
mechanism allowed the point to be opened within the skull.
Leisnisch Kiewisch Cranial Perforator
Perforators
There were hundreds of designs. They were used
to stab into the baby's head, tearing it into pieces.
Decapitator
Blot's Cephalotribe
This abortion instrument was used to crush and flatten the baby's head.
Cranioclast
For gripping and crushing.
Auvard's Basiotribe
Crochet
Wide-edged Crochet
Used to crush.
Embryotomy Forceps
This abortion instrument was used to take out body parts.
Destructive Hooks
After breaking off the baby's skull with a perforator,
the crochet is inserted into the cranium and pulled.
Smellie's Double Crochet
Used to grab and rip the baby out.
Guarded Crochet
This abortion instrument was used to grip and pull.
Decapitators
Dubois' Embryotomy Decapitating Scissors
These abortion instruments were used to cut off the head, arms and legs.
Abortifacient and Baptismal Syringe
Details to come.

This abortion instrument was used to remove body parts of the baby.
Details to come
Vectus with Destructive Attachments
Modified Crochet
Once this abortion instrument is close to the baby's neck,
you turn the wheel on the handle. It would curl around the neck;
then you could twist it, causing the neck to break.

Cranial Perforator
This abortion instrument was used to bore a hole in
the child's head, allowing an easy collapse for extraction.
Craniotomy Forceps

This abortion instrument was used to
dismember and/or decapitate the baby.
Mauriceau's Head Extractor
Vaginal Speculum
This instrument opens the vagina and is used to aid in abortion.
This abortion instrument was jammed in the baby's skull and
twisted causing it to turn into a T. Then, a decapitator
was used allowing the baby's head to be extracted.
Uterine Dilator
Uterine Dilator
Sea-Tangle Tents
This tool, used for dilating the cervix, were used for abortions.
Osiander's Amniotone

Abortion tonics date back to ancient times, and were common throughout the centuries. This cruel death
by poisoning made the child suffer for weeks. Abortion instruments were used because the abortion tonics failed most of the time.

Tonics made by H.K. Mulford Co.
One is an aphrodisiac (left image), and one is for killing the child (right image).

Common Core, A Cruel Obama Hoax: "Improve Education at All Levels" his signature effort in this area, is now devastating education at all levels in all states that have embraced it.

A recent AP story about Obama and education appeared in scores of American newspapers.
According to the report, "President Barack Obama is promising to improve American education from preschool to college."
The story appears in the midst of a drumbeat for pre-K, or "quality pre-K," as the ever-sycophantic New York Times puts it.  One problem: if K-12 is wracked by mediocrity now, why is pre-K, or anything else, suddenly going to be conducted at a high level?  That would be most unlikely.  Here's why:
In his State of the Union last week. Obama made a laundry list of promises.  Some of them are concerned with technology and grants.  These he might be able to fulfill.
But the promise of improving education at all levels is mocked by the fact that Common Core, his signature effort in this area, is now devastating education at all levels in all states that have embraced it.
Simultaneous with the AP story, there was a new Breitbart story about Governor Huckabee backtracking on his support for Common Core.  Apparently his fans and supporters have screamed and booed at such volume that Huckabee has been forced to pay attention.  His new line is that he's in favor of it but he isn't.  He wants some new terminology.  He wants rebranding, as if that would change the nature of the beast.
Indeed, many states are now changing the jargon.  This is precisely what our Education Establishment has always done.  As soon as the public discovers that a new idea is a bad idea, our education experts don't change the idea; they change the name.

Common Core was never something the public asked for.  It was schemed and dreamed by the Education Establishment.  It became a reality only because Obama had "stimulus money" that he could channel into grants (in effect, bribes) for semi-bankrupt states circa 2009.  Lots of glorious excuses and rhetoric were thrown at the country to make this hot-air balloon fly.  Many intelligent people such as Huckabee supported it.  Many people who should know better, such as the business community, supported it.  Many liberal newspapers, to no one's surprise, supported it in their usual robotic fashion.  So for a few years there was a genuine Common Core tsunami flooding across the country.

Then individual citizens learned what was inside this thing.  They realized, for one thing, it was an exact parallel with ObamaCare.  A huge overreach by the federal government, packed with untested theories and methods, the whole thing sort of scaffolded up with popsicle sticks.
As famed educator Siegfried Engelmann explained, "Common Core is a perfect example of technical nonsense. A sensible organization would rely heavily on data about procedures used to achieve outstanding results; and they would certainly field test the results to assure that the standards resulted in fair, achievable goals? How many of these things did they do? None."
The essential problem with Common Core is that there's nothing new.  It's really a repackaging of all the bad ideas that John Dewey and his progressive educators came up with in the last 80 or 90 years.  The basic idea is to teach children less because that's considered fairer.  Johnny can't feel superior to Jack if neither one knows very much.  Now, this approach may lead you to socialism, but it will definitely not lead you to an educated country.
So President Obama's lofty claims in his State of the Union speech are obliterated by what is actually happening in K-12 education in most cities in America.  Charlotte Iserbyt's famous phrase "the deliberate dumbing down of America" seems more apt than ever.
The paradox we see in education is the same as that in the economy.  The president talks about progress and success, but his political philosophy militates against success.  Success would mean that rich people would get richer in some cases, and it would mean that smart people learn a lot more in some cases.  And we can't have those outcomes.  Indeed, they are carefully prevented.  So Obama's rhetoric notwithstanding, his policies lead to intellectual and economic stagnation.
As Robin Eubanks asserts in Credentialed to Destroy (which may well be the most important book on education published in many years), "[w]hat is being marketed as the Common Core national standards and accompanying ed reforms is actually a planned, centrally coordinated, interrelated, complete reorganization of American education. Designed to change students from the inside-out so they will lobby for social change now. And vote for it later. These so-called 'reforms' eliminate practices, like the transmission curriculum, that evolved because they worked and created prosperous practices and useful, marketable knowledge and skills. And a spirit of individualism that has created great innovations. ... Common Core would be a bad idea if the intentions of its planners were for the best. But they are not."
Bruce Deitrick Price explains education theories and methods on his site  Improve-Education.org.

From "Fetus Slayer" to Pro-Life Champion

In the midst of the rising tide of hostility that pro-life activists are experiencing, it’s important to remember that some of the most vociferous abortion advocates of the past have become prominent pro-life champions. It’s a scenario that is sure to repeat itself again.
According to a January 31st report from Students for Life of America, there was so much hatred and antagonism expressed towards them at a recent demonstration that the “police officers had to form a human shield around us as we stood to represent the preborn and their mothers.”
In the midst of the outpouring of anger and profanity, one of the abortion activists held up a homemade sign identifying herself as a “fetus slayer” while she tried to jump on Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America.
This is reminiscent of the protests at the Texas Senate last year where pro-abortion activists chanted “hail Satan,” “f**k the church,” and “bro-choice” while holding signs that said “hoes before embryos.”
But is it possible that some of these very protestors, including the young woman holding up the “fetus slayer” sign, could have a radical change of heart? Absolutely.
Just think of Dr. Bernard Nathanson, “an obstetrician who oversaw the performance of about 75,000 abortions before becoming a leading pro-life advocate and a convert to the Catholic faith. . . . ”
As the Daily News reported upon announcement of his death in 2011, “After performing his last abortion in 1979 and declaring himself to be pro-life, Nathanson produced the 1985 film The Silent Scream, which shows sonogram images of a child in the womb shrinking from an abortionist’s instruments, and the documentary film Eclipse of Reason, which displays and explains various abortion procedures in graphic detail. Both films had a significant impact on the abortion debate, solidified his credentials among pro-life advocates and earned him the scorn of his former pro-abortion friends and colleagues.”
And then there is Norma McCorvey, the “Jane Roe” of Roe v. Wade infamy (for those who still don’t know the story, the whole 1973 ruling was based on a non-existent case, as McCorvey never had an abortion). She too had a change of heart and a conversion to the Christian faith, and today, she is a pro-life champion.
As she explains in a one-minute, pro-life video, “Back in 1973, I was a very confused twenty-one year old with one child and facing an unplanned pregnancy.
“At the time I fought to obtain a legal abortion, but truth be told, I have three daughters and never had an abortion.”
She continues, “I think it’s safe to say that the entire abortion industry is based on a lie…. I am dedicated to spending the rest of my life undoing the law that bears my name.”
She ended the video with these words: “You read about me in history books, but now I am dedicated to spreading the truth about preserving the dignity of all human life from natural conception to natural death.”
These are two prominent examples – there is a countless number of less prominent “converts” whose stories are little known – but if God could change the heart of Bernard Nathanson, a man who helped found NARAL and who once operated one of the nation’s largest abortion clinics, and if he could change the heart of the “Roe” in Roe v. Wade, why couldn’t he change the heart of the angry young lady who identified herself as a “fetus slayer”?
And let’s remember that Dr. Nathanson had his pro-life conversion while still identifying himself as a Jewish atheist, which is all the more striking.
And speaking of the Scriptures, let’s remember that the apostle Paul, the most influential leader in the Jesus movement outside of Jesus himself, once was an archenemy of the faith. As he said in his own words, “formerly I was a blasphemer, persecutor, and insolent opponent. But I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief” (1 Timothy 1:13; he actually helped put followers of Jesus to death in those early days).
Perhaps some of the most vocal pro-life opponents are just like Paul once was, acting ignorantly and in unbelief? Perhaps they are simply blinded by the spirit of the age and, once their eyes are opened, they too will be changed?
Of course they are fully accountable for their actions, but if we respond to their hostility with compassion and truth (as the pro-life side has faithfully sought to do, with rare exception), we will ultimately “overcome evil with good” (Romans 12:21).
The good news is that just as abortion rates in America continue to decline (although they are still monstrously high), some of those who identify today as “fetus slayers” will tomorrow be pro-life champions.

Good luck solving this 3rd grade Common Core math problem

This problem may seem difficult, particularly for a third-grader who has just begun learning about fractions. Fortunately, the solution (click here) is quite straightforward.

Of course, the instructions would probably be even more confusing to some poor kid who knows very little about fractions.
Sadly, Hall observes, her daughter is just learning fractions for the first time:

Also, sure enough! Those super-tiny words at the bottom of the worksheet say “Common Core.”
This awful worksheet is the latest in an ever-growing series of stories demonstrating the awfulness of the Common Core State Standards Initiative, a curriculum — but don’t call it a curriculum! — currently being implemented by 45 states and the District of Columbia.
Last week, The Daily Caller brought you a set of incomprehensible directions for nine-year-olds. (RELATED: Here’s another impossibly stupid Common Core math worksheet)
In December, Twitchy found the most egregiously awful math problem the Common Core had produced until that point. (RELATED: Is this Common Core math question the worst math question in human history?)
In November, Twitchy collected several more incomprehensible, unintentionally hilarious Core-aligned worksheets and tests. (RELATED: EPIC FAIL: Parents reveal insane Common Core worksheets)
In September, a father was violently arrested for expressing his frustrations about the implementation of the Common Core at a public forum in the suburbs of Baltimore. (RELATED: Now they’re arresting people who complain about the Common Core)
Also, over the summer, TheDC exposed a video in which a curriculum coordinator in suburban Chicago perkily explained that students can be totally right if they say 3 x 4 = 11 as long as they spout something about the necessarily faulty reasoning they used to get to that wrong answer. (RELATED: Obama math: under new Common Core, 3 x 4 = 11 [VIDEO])

Abortion’s Uncomfortable Truth

The March for Life should sport a clearly marked warning in bright, fluorescent colors: when you return home, your commitment to the pro-life cause will be tried, resisted, and fought.  The status quo is comfortable, routine, while talk of abortion is clearly too charged for polite conversation.  You will learn to let the bygones of 1973 rest quietly and gossip about the Grammys instead.
When a culture of life is our aim, this is precisely what cannot happen.
If we recognize abortion as the travesty of our age, we must be willing to feel uncomfortable, to stand for something real and true amidst a world of incessant accommodation.  It is unpopular, discouraged, yet altogether essential in shaking the apathy of our age.
Plato, too, foresaw this conflict when confronting ignorance in his Allegory of the Cave.  Having emerged from the cave of ignorance and seen the splendor of truth, Plato’s hero returns to spread enlightenment amid the world of shadow and blindness.  Yet those who remained in the cave reject his message of hope, preferring instead the comfort of immediate things.
They would laugh at him and say that he had gone up only to come back with his sight ruined; it was worth no one’s while even to attempt the ascent. If they could lay hands on the man who was trying to set them free and lead them up, they would kill him.
Society has become a large, cavernous cave.  Its passive citizens watch as shadows trace the walls, entertained by their familiar simplicity.  Yet a culture of life will only flourish in the light of truth, and it is our duty–our privilege–to make it known.
Be not afraid.

Gov’t schools and Common Core Indoctrination

The term public is archaic, since the current age promotes an internationalist interdependency culture, where the state defines institutional roles and sanctions accepted standards. The public plays virtually no effective role in this process. For this reason the proper term to use is government indoctrination centers. Bringing back the McGuffey Readers as the alternative to the state syllabus of common core is a step in the right direction. Our Dysfunctional Public Education Is No Accident essay lays out the correct standard.
“Education needs to be about teaching the tools, methods and process of “How To Think”. The mission of the instructor is one of developing the intuitive nature of inquiry that is natural in every person. Training the intrinsic urge of curiosity as the means of discriminating and rational thought is the prime goal for the educator. But to achieve this level of tutoring the teacher must be founded in their own understand in logic and analytical thinking. In today’s classroom, social engineering has replaced Aristotle, Locke and Kant with the latest celebrity of multiculturalism.”
The Common Core site attempts to outline the purpose and worthiness of their education standards. Sounds like a noble goal; however, what is the reality?

“As a natural outgrowth of meeting the charge to define college and career readiness, the Standards also lay out a vision of what it means to be a literate person in the twenty-first century. Indeed, the skills and understandings students are expected to demonstrate have wide applicability outside the classroom or workplace. Students who meet the Standards readily undertake the close, attentive reading that is at the heart of understanding and enjoying complex works of literature. They habitually perform the critical reading necessary to pick carefully through the staggering amount of information available today in print and digitally. They actively seek the wide, deep, and thoughtful engagement with high-quality literary and informational texts that builds knowledge, enlarges experience, and broadens worldviews. They reflexively demonstrate the cogent reasoning and use of evidence that is essential to both private deliberation and responsible citizenship in a democratic republic. In short, students who meet the Standards develop the skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening that are the foundation for any creative and purposeful expression in language.”
Dr. Susan Berry presents a wealth of information and resource links in her article, Common Core Rooted In Math Class Social Justice Indoctrination “While proponents of the Common Core claim that the new standards are focused on “college and career readiness,” more evidence is surfacing that a central purpose of the initiative is social justice and income redistribution indoctrination.” This one example sums up the dilemma.
“Radical Math boasts over 700 lesson plans, articles, charts, books, and websites that cover a wide range of socio-political issues including redistribution of wealth, discrimination against the poor by whites, corporations, banks, etc., and the message that widespread racism against blacks continues in the United States today.”
Now compare this critical appraisal to the lofty mission of math back in the Common Core mission statement. How can this statement below square with the above practice?
“For over a decade, research studies of mathematics education in high-performing countries have pointed to the conclusion that the mathematics curriculum in the United States must become substantially more focused and coherent in order to improve mathematics achievement in this country. To deliver on the promise of common standards, the standards must address the problem of a curriculum that is “a mile wide and an inch deep.” These Standards are a substantial answer to that challenge.”
Integration into a 21st century business and social model is the ultimate intent of the common core objective. Nowhere is there a debate of what kind of future mankind wants or the kind of reality that all human beings are intrinsically part of. Those questions require the study in humanity education and liberal arts training that are quite different from the instruction in algorithm programming.
The world view of this common core inculcation presupposes that society accepts their premises as a fait accompli. Their technocrat approach to instruction demands that authentic education must be marginalized if not outright eliminated. The traditional Christian cosmology has no place in this brave new world. In the article, Common Core’s Negative Impact on Education and Biblical Literacy, explains the destructive nature of this dehumanizing standardization.

“The central organizing theme of the Common Core ELA standards is that study of creative literature must be diminished in favor of nonfiction “informational texts.” The idea is that students should be drilled in the types of documents they are more likely to encounter in their entry-level jobs (and make no mistake, Common Core is a workforce-development model, not an education model).
The fundamental problem with the Common Core approach is that, to achieve its job-training goals, it recognizes no difference between one “complex” text and another “complex” text. A great work of literature has value far beyond the complexity of the words used – it allows students to understand the eternal human condition; it allows them to confront human challenges that recur throughout the ages; it teaches empathy, prudence, forgiveness; it transports the readers to places and times not their own. The Common Core ELA standards are, quite simply, indifferent to this type of education. Training, not educating, is their goal. They are not interested in helping students become the people God created them to be; they are interested in creating workers.”
You can just hear the profane condemnation from the American Federation of Teacher and the National Education Association opposing the mere mention of God in their secular temples of perdition. Irony excluded how biblical revelation dare be debated in a non-judgmental culture of relativism. At the heart of the government school establishment is an unending choir of fallen angels that preach their vision of paradise, while demanding ever higher budgets and far greater control over the indoctrination of their impressionable guinea pigs.
America is now a country stuck on stupid, greatly because of this unholy and apocalyptic system that dooms our society. Gee, moving to a common core curriculum has the intent to eliminate the last remnants of independent school boards. Home Schooling is also threatened as the article, What Homeschool Parents Need to Know about the Common Core argues.

“One factor is the century-long effort to nationalize and standardize American education. The standardization efforts have their roots in Dewey, Cubberley, and the schools of education at Stanford and Columbia. They picked up steam in the 1960s and 1970s as the national teachers’ unions gained more power. They strengthened more when President Jimmy Carter fulfilled a promise to the NEA by creating a separate, cabinet-level Department of Education.
The educrats dream of a day when every student in America will receive exactly the same education, using the same textbooks and lesson plans. Those textbooks and lesson plans will, of course, be developed by the best and the brightest, who will pass them down on tablets of stone. The worker bees and drones will be programmed to follow them exactly. This is a nightmare scenario, one which anyone who believes in individual rights, local control, and federalism should oppose at every opportunity. The Common Core Standards become dangerous when they form a stepping stone which helps to move the educrats’ vision forward.”
Top down control always is intended to eradicate the voice of the individual. Under a national coordinated imposition of federal funding, local school districts have become dependent upon the conditional requirements of conformity to keep the money flowing.
So what is the solution? From the Dysfunctional Public Education Is No Accident article.
“Reform is no long possible. A Federal Department of Education hastens central controls for social compliance. At this point, an education free from public schools, has more value than going through the disinformation that is currently being taught. The errors that are learned in childhood are more difficult to overturn, then if they were never acquired in the first place. So what exactly is the advantage in an education under government approved instructors? If you want to reverse the decay in moral aptitude, you must find alternatives for the education of your children.”
Common Core pronouncements sound so nice. In spite of this, the key question is whether their program of study teaches the principles of developing good citizens. Lest we forget, a good citizen is an independent thinking and rationally responsible trained advocate of liberty and moral values. Maintaining and expanding a structure of mindless and obedient state compliance is ridiculous.
Our founding fathers were distinguished, well spoken and skilled in the understanding of human nature. Today’s specimens, hatched from government schools, are chicken-livered dimwits that aspire to the lowest paradigm that a common core can establish. The miserable failure of the taxpayer collective education system is undeniable by any judicious measure. RIP before the entire nation dies.

Next Generation Science Standards: Common Core Incognito

Climate Change and Evolution
Proponents of evolution and manmade climate change are ecstatic about the Common Core science standards. Climate change is accepted as manmade in the standards and children must accept this notion. “The standards make clear that evolution is fundamental to understanding the life sciences,” according to Education Week. This may present a roadblock to adopting these standards in some states.

It took three years for a group of committees to develop Common Core Science Standards, which are called “Next Generation Science Standards” (NGSS). The National Research Council and Washington-based Achieve, the group that produced the Common Core English and math standards, also managed the development of Common Core science standards.
Those who decided to call Common Core (CC) Science standards “Next Generation Science Standards” may have done so to dissociate their work from Common Core. Common Core has gained a negative reputation and is increasingly associated with failure, as the public has learned what federalized standards actually mean to the future of math and English K-12 education in America.
CC science creators and proponents claim the standards were created by the states. They made the same untrue claim about CC English and math standards. To give the science claim some credibility, 26 states were allowed some input into science standards. Each of those states “was required to form a broad-based group to review the standards, including representatives of K-12 education and higher education, as well as of the science and business communities.” (Education Week, 5-14-12) The key word here is “review.” These state committees gave feedback, but they did not develop the standards.
Stephen Pruitt, who managed the standards-development process for Achieve, indicated to Education Week that “the feedback from states has been taken very seriously, and many changes have been made to the draft document based upon it.” He added, “[T]he standards must remain true to the National Resource Council framework.”
The science standards, like those for math and English, are not based on empirical evidence of efficacy nor are they tested in any environment. They are fresh out of the box and will be field-tested statewide in any state that signs on.
As Steve Goreham explains in The Mad, Mad, Mad World of Climatism, some scientific evidence indicates that warming and cooling trends are naturally occurring as an earth cycle. He claims that scientists disagree about the extent to which man’s activities are a cause of climate change. NGSS teach that human activity is responsible for detrimental climate change and emphasize that action must be taken to “save the earth.”
The Myth about Curriculum
Although proponents emphasize that the Common Core standards are not a curriculum, standards and testing drive curriculum. States will be teaching to specific standards and teaching to a test. Curriculum developed will, of necessity, reflect those standards and that test.
Bill Gates, arguably the most influential proponent and definitely the largest financial contributor to Common Core, besides the federal government, said in a speech to the National Conference of State Legislators in July 2009: “Identifying common standards is not enough. We’ll know we’ve succeeded when the curriculum and the tests are aligned to these standards.”
The January 2013 UCLA-based National Center for Research on Evaluation, Standards, and Student Testing Common Core report concluded that “the assessments themselves and their results will send powerful signals to schools about the meaning of the [Common Core standards] and what students know and are able to do. If history is a guide, educators will align curriculum and teaching to what is tested, and what is not assessed largely will be ignored.”
Fordham Review
Nine scientists and mathematicians reviewed the content, rigor, and clarity of the NGSS for the Thomas B. Fordham Institute. Fordham gave the standards an overall grade of “C,” listing the following major problems with Common Core science standards:
  1. The NGSS “never explicitly require some content in early grades that is then assumed in subsequent standards.”
  2. The standards attempt “to put a ceiling on the content and skills that will be measured at each grade,” [which] may limit what is taught by the exclusion of content that more advanced students can learn.
  3. The standards fail “to include essential math content that is critical to science learning.” Particularly in physics and chemistry, “the standards seem to assiduously dodge the mathematical demands inherent in the subjects covered.”
  4. The “confusing presentation of the standards, combined with vague and poorly worded expectations, earns the NGSS a 1.5 out of 3 for clarity and specificity.”
Another problem Fordham reviewers found stems from the hands-on activities required by NGSS and the resulting focus on students “performing” at the expense of “memorizing.” The Fordham Institute suggests that the creators of the standards “conferred primacy on practices and paid too little attention to the knowledge base that makes those practices both feasible and worthwhile.” They indicate that in this case “content takes a backseat to practices.” The Fordham report suggests that science education should “build knowledge first so that students will have the storehouse of information and understanding that they need to engage in scientific reasoning and higher level thinking.” NGSS are heavy on practice and light on content.
The Fordham Institute concludes that while 16 states have existing standards that are inferior to the Next Generation Science Standards, in another 22 states the difference was “too close to call,” and that existing standards in 12 states and D.C. are superior. Fordham suggests that states desiring to improve their science standards forgo Common Core and instead look to states with superior standards.
There are also National Assessment of Education Progress (NAEP) and Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS) standards already in place that are superior to CC science standards and that could be used as guidelines by states. NAEP and TIMSS standards received the grade of A- from the Fordham Institute.
Despite criticism of the NGSS, the Thomas B. Fordham Institute remains an enthusiastic proponent of math and English Common Core standards.
College-Ready?
As with the math and English CC standards, what is meant by “college-ready” is misleading. While the CC science standards may prepare students for an undergraduate general science class, they will not prepare them for further study in STEM subjects. According to the Fordham analysis, “there is so little advanced content that it would be impossible to derive a high school physics or chemistry course from the content included in the NGSS.” Fordham reviewers say that what NGSS offers amounts to “watered-down versions of heretofore more demanding courses in key STEM subjects,” such as chemistry and physics. Many colleges require completion of high school chemistry or physics for admission. A watered-down version will not only cheat students, but will result in the need for more remedial college courses.
The Next Generation Science Standards again indicate that in the world of Common Core, ‘college-ready’ means to graduate students who are only prepared for further studies at a non-selective institution or a two-year community college. Common Core does not prepare students for a four-year college. NGSS will not prepare students for study in a STEM subject.
Align or Decline?
The Kansas State Board of Education has already chosen to align with the Common Core science standards. Ken Willard, one of two board members who voted against alignment, said, “both evolution and human-caused climate change are presented in these standards dogmatically.” He continued, “This nonobjective, unscientific approach to education standards amounts to little more than indoctrination in political correctness.”
Kansas state Rep. Allan Rothlisberg said that Common Core represents federal intrusion. Alluding to the recently discovered, politically motivated targeting of individuals and groups by the IRS, he said, “Why on Earth would we expect the Department of Education — which is not constitutionally authorized — to look out for our children? That’s our responsibility.” (Lawrence Journal-World, 6-11-13)
Matt Krehbiel, a science education consultant for the Kansas Department of Education, who participated in the development of the CC science standards, “criticized the Fordham report as using a flawed approach to evaluate the standards, and said the new standards are worthy of embrace for Kansas.” (Education Week, 6-13-13)
Rhode Island and Vermont have adopted the standards. Although the Kentucky and Maryland boards of education have approved the CC science standards, a legislative review is needed before they can take effect in those states.
More states will soon choose to adopt or decline the science standards. Those states choosing to align with CC science will then face the expense of aligned textbooks, teacher training, and the cost of developing testing. Common Core math and English testing was initially funded by federal stimulus money, but nationalized testing in science has received no such funding.
