Playing the card Harry Reid’s racist remarks

Harry Reid loves to impugn the motives of political rivals, and he was in rare form theother day when he mused self-righteously that he certainly hoped Republican opposition to President Obama is based on “substance” and not on, you know, race.

Please.

If all opposition to Obama is subject to suspicion about racism, why didn’t Harry Reid toss out the race insinuation when environmental groups jumped all over Obama to stop the Keystone XL pipeline? Why didn’t Reid accuse labor unions of being racist when they started turning against ObamaCare?

Well, you know why. Because when Harry Reid makes these kinds of insinuations,

 it is always disingenuous and always without merit. He uses race as a hammer to beat up on political opponents, and he does so shamelessly. This is the same kind of thing you see a lot 

from the Congressional Black Caucus, which might want to consider making Reid an honorary member.

But if it’s substance you’re looking for, Harry, how about economic growth worse than 2 percent? How about unemployment that is still above 7 percent? How about $17 trillion in debt? How about more than $100 trillion in unfunded entitlement obligations? How about constant delays and missteps 

in the implementation of ObamaCare? How about four dead in Benghazi, the IRS harassing small businesses and the president’s political opponents and the Justice Department reading James Rosen’s e-mails?

Is that enough substance for you, Sen. Reid? Or doesn’t any of this matter, since thewhole accusation was baseless in the first place and you only throw it out there because this is what you do - shamelessly play the race card when you and thepresident really don’t have anything else?

It’s Harry Reid’s remarks that are racist. Yeah. I went there.
