The war for the future of America is being fought in classrooms across the country, and in Common Core, the Left has a weapon that threatens more than ever to condemn generations of children to being brainwashed into hating their own country.
To say that the new outline for AP history is revisionist is naively oversimplifying the situation.
The new curriculum so rewrites the past that it is hardly recognizable. It turns U.S. history into one long litany of the villainy of white Europeans, from the moment Columbus set eyes on the New World, up through modern times. Even World War II is no longer taught as a battle against the darkness of Nazism and Imperial tyranny, but as an exercise in racist exploitation and American evil.
Peter Wood, president of the National Association of Scholars, told WorldNet Daily that the revised history curriculum, due to debut this fall, "weaves together a vaguely Marxist or at least materialist reading of the key events with the whole litany of identity group grievances."
Focusing on the suffering of American Indians and blacks at the hands of white Europeans, the new "history" of the United States' beginnings completely omits the Pilgrims, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson and most of the Founding Fathers. George Washington is barely acknowledged, and the Declaration of Independence, that document most hated by the Left (even more than the Constitution) is barely even mentioned.
The new curriculum reportedly even deletes Abraham Lincoln.
Instead, children will be taught that Europeans destroyed the environment and disrupted "eco-friendly" native tribes, brought epidemics, enforced a caste system and instituted slavery. The lessons focus on how a belief in "white superiority" was used to justify subjugation and abuse of non-whites.
The curriculum even omits some black heroes in favor of teaching that "prominent racist and nativist theories, along with Supreme Court decisions such as Plessy v. Ferguson, were used to justify violence as well as local and national policies of discrimination and segregation."
Naturally, leftist landmark achievements like the New Deal are extolled at length to teach that government was used to better the situation of the poor and stimulate the economy.
World War II is completely turned on its head, with the curriculum saying, "The internment of Japanese Americans, challenges to civil liberties, debates over race and segregation, and the decision to drop the atomic bomb raised questions about American values."
All the changes are courtesy of the College Board, which administers the SAT, and are the next step in the Common Core plan to unify education from K-12 into college. They are led by Common Core's chief architect, David Coleman, an "education professional" who has never taught in a classroom but who has somehow become the nation's education guru after the nation's governors hired his firm to create Common Core when the White House promised states millions of dollars if they would adopt a national education curriculum.
Common Core has yet to achieve its full implementation in most states as it is being rolled out in stages, but so far, there is nothing to commend it. Its "improved" curricula in various subjects have been uniformly poorly written, often confusing to students, and thoroughly saturated with leftist propaganda in ways both subtle and gross.
America's school boards and parents who truly care about education should recognize Common Core for what it is, an attack on American values and an effort to further destroy the education system for the purpose of ensuring that future generations of voters will be easily manipulated by a growing leftist fascist state that has no interest in safeguarding the rights, liberty or property of individuals.
Common Core is unconstitutional groundwork for tyranny (the federal government has no legal authority over education). Infect the minds of children with a tapestry of untruths, and they will never be able to see the chains of lies laid upon them by a future government, whether it is led by the current man who thinks he is king or by another usurper.
To accept Common Core is to accept the enslavement of your children's minds. Better to purge it from our schools or even tear down our public school systems to the ground than to allow even one child to be so abused by the people entrusted with their education.
