Tea Party Representative: King Obama’s Amnesty is Turning America into a Lawless Open Borders Society

Principled conservatives voted on Thursday to not advance the House’s continuing resolution as the measure fully funds both Obamacare and President Obama’s unconstitutional amnesty granted to millions of illegal immigrants.

By a razor-thin margin of 214-212, the House voted to advance the $1.1 trillion stop-gap spending deal, known as the “cromnibus,” despite the protests of many principled conservatives who view it as the job of Congress to thwart unconstitutional maneuvers by the president when they can.

Democrats hate the resolution as well as they claim that the bill rewards Wall Street. Still, Speaker of the House John Boehner appeared optimistic, saying, “I expect this bill will receive bipartisan support and pass. If we don’t get finished today, we’re going to be here until Christmas,” he predicted.

However, Boehner’s optimism might be misguided as several top conservatives have vehemently opposed this resolution. As Boehner continues to try to stir-up the votes necessary, Tennessee Tea Party Congressman Marsha Blackburn released a statement that is sure to resonate with fellow conservatives in the House and Senate. She stated:
“Unfortunately, this spending package fails to take the necessary actions to defund the President’s lawless amnesty. As a result, I cannot vote in support of this measure. It is not fair that hard-working taxpayers in Tennessee will now have to compete for jobs with illegal aliens to whom the President is unilaterally granting work permits at a time when our workforce participation rate sits at a 36-year low and more than 90 million Americans are out of work. That is why I fought for and passed my bill in the House this summer to freeze the President’s unconstitutional Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. King Obama’s amnesty is turning America into a lawless open borders society.”
This issue is not about a government shutdown; it’s about the power of the people to decide what happens in government. Our elected officials in the Legislative Branch are our proxies, our voices in government. When a president acts like a king, it is important that legislators make the hard choice and stand firm to reaffirm our separation of powers and deny him the ability to reign over this country like a monarch.
