Faith, Freedom, and Foreign Policy: GOPs Dissect Obama Record at Evangelical Conference Christie: Obama’s “pulling back of American influence and American ideas across the world is having catastrophic effects.”

Note on this post, i dismiss Obama Lover  Chris Christie claim here.  Chris Christie is just sucking up. here nothing more.

WASHINGTON – Republican lawmakers at an evangelical conference this month lambasted the Obama administration’s handling of recent global events, highlighting what they called a lack of leadership.
“All of these things are happening, in my opinion, because of a lack of clarity and principle in American leadership in the statement of who we are,” New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said at the Faith & Freedom Coalition’s “Road to Majority” event.
friends know who our friends are, and that our adversaries know who they are as well.”
“Leadership is about telling who you are and what you stand for, and then speaking it directly, loudly, and understandably so that not only your supporters know who you are, but the people who are against you know who you are, too, and have respect for where you stand,” Christie said.
In his first time addressing the social-conservative group, Christie said Obama’s “pulling back of American influence and American ideas across the world is having catastrophic effects.”
He slammed the president for failing to “speak clearly, profoundly, and inspirationally” about the nation’s role in the world.
“Whether it is drawing a red line in Syria and then not enforcing it, hurting America’s credibility and allowing the Russian leader to fill the vacuum of leadership in a way that will not be good for the world, and then watching how that movement moves from Syria to now causing the issues they are causing in Iraq,” Christie said. “All of these things are happening in my opinion because of a lack of clarity and principle in American leadership.”
Many of the speakers addressed the situation in Iraq where the American-trained army collapsed against an offensive mounted by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and Sunni tribes displeased with the government of President Nouri al-Maliki.
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), who spoke before Christie, criticized the president for the conflict in Syria and how it may have contributed to the ongoing turmoil in Iraq.
Christians fled Iraq for Syria during the 2003 invasion because they were afraid of the Shiite government that the U.S. helped install, Paul said.
“President Obama is arming Islamic rebels in Syria. The vast majority of Christians in Syria are on the opposite side of the war. We are arming Islamic rebels who are intent on killing Christians,” he said.
Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) listed “the horribles” that have happened in recent weeks due to President Obama’s belief in “fantasy foreign policy,” where “good intentions equal success.”
Bachmann cited the rise of Boko Haram in Nigeria, the crisis in Ukraine, and ISIL’s lightning advance toward the Iraqi capital as examples of the foreign policy of a president who “does not understand what works and what does not work in the real world of real bad guys.”
“Terrorists are on the march in Iraq. Terrorists so brutal, so violent, that even al-Qaeda has renounced them. These terrorists virtually in a blitzkrieg took over one-third of Iraq. In a stunning display where they have taken not only American tanks, American trucks, and American high-powered weapons. They have also now reportedly taken chemical weapons caches,” she said. “This is a direct result of the foreign policy failures of Barack Obama.”
The speakers, however, failed to provide any concrete steps for what the Obama administration should do in Iraq.
Paul came the closest to providing something clear, saying there should be no foreign aid for any country that persecutes Christians or threatens Israel. He also said the U.S. should not provide aid to Syrian rebels who “are intent on killing Christians” allied with Syrian president Bashar al-Assad.
“There is a war on Christianity going on and sometimes you are being asked to pay for it,” Paul said. “I say not one penny to any country that persecutes Christians.”
He urged Republicans to be cautious when it comes to projecting the nation’s strength abroad without thinking first about the unintended consequences of those actions.
“[President Ronald] Reagan spoke often of peace through strength, and I fear that some in our nation, some in our party have forgotten the first part of the sentence, that peace should be our goal even as we build our strength,” Paul said. “Even when we’ve tried through good intentions to make the world a better choice, our actions have often backfired.”

10 Truths I Learned About Planned Parenthood at the National Right to Life Convention

Thursday night at the 44th National Right to Life Convention in Louisville, Ky., pro-life Drs. Randall K. O'Bannon and David N. O'Steen led a workshop entitled, "Planned Parenthood: Playing Politics, Selling Obamacare, But Abortion is Still the Bottom Line." After sitting through that presentation and speaking with a number of pro-life insiders throughout the three-day conference, I realized Thursday's workshop was aptly named. Here's why:
1. 11-12 percent of Planned Parenthood's clients have abortions.
Planned Parenthood likes to claim that abortion encompasses only 3 percent of its services, but Dr. O'Bannon, who serves as NRLC's director of education and research, labeled this number an "accounting gimmick." For instance, he toldTownhall before his presentation, if a young woman comes in for an abortion and is offered a number of other services and treatment, only one of those services will count as abortion. They count every condom they give as one service, he further explained.
For a more accurate picture of the large role abortion plays, consider these statistics: 11-12 percent of Planned Parenthood's clients have abortions. That's about 1 in every 8 women.
2. Planned Parenthood is building mega clinics.
Many news outlets, including this one, have reported the astounding number of abortion clinic closings this year largely due to legislation that has enforced clinic regulations. However, less reported is the fact that Planned Parenthood hasopened several clinics in the past few years, including mega clinics that expand over 10,000 square feet. The largest of these clinics resides in Houston. This towering building is six stories tall and 78,000 square feet. Dr. O'Bannon provided pictures of the luxurious and spacious waiting room.
Altogether, the project cost a cool $26 million to build. One representative from Louisiana Right to Life told me that Planned Parenthood is also opening one of these monstrous facilities in New Orleans.
3. Planned Parenthood does not give breast exams.
They only give referrals. In light of this, I'd like the organization to answer of one of Dr. O'Bannon's poignant questions: "Planned Parenthood spends money on abortion equipment, but can't afford mammogram machines?"
4. In 2010, Planned Parenthood established an abortion mandate for all of its affiliates.
Meaning, that each of its affiliates must have at least one clinic that performs abortions.
5. Some Planned Parenthoods hold "Sexy Tuesday" happy hours.
Don't believe me? O'Bannon says these happy hours are used as ploys to attract wealthy people in affluent neighborhoods.
6. Some Planned Parenthood clinics have designated spaces for phone banking.
It's no secret that Planned Parenthood has helped to elect pro-abortion politicians, including President Barack Obama. But, what most people don't know, is that the organization has designated stations in its clinics for such political activism, according to Dr. O'Bannon.
7. Most people don't know that Planned Parenthood's affiliates perform abortion.
NRLC executive director Dr. O'Steen provided a packetful of polling data from the polling company, inc. The company surveyed 1,003 people on behalf of NRLC and discovered that 56 percent of those surveyed did not know that Planned Parenthood's affiliates provide abortions. This ignorance proved to be especially unfortunate, considering that this same polling company found that most people would not support tax dollars going to organizations that perform abortions.
If only they knew...
8. Planned Parenthood offers webcam abortions.
I’ve reported on this shocking practice before, but this week I learned more of the unnerving specifics. At Planned Parenthood's discretion, young girls are allowed to take the abortion drug RU-486 hundreds of miles away from their abortionist via Skype. When he deems it appropriate, the abortionist on the other end of the computer screen simply pushes a button and out pop the pills from a drawer ready for the young woman to consume.
Sounds safe, right?
9. Planned Parenthood receives $1.2 billion a year.
The last eight points should make this number even more troubling. Yes, you the taxpayer are paying for all of the above.
10. The sky won't fall if Planned Parenthood is defunded.
No, I didn't need a conference to tell me that, but it was nice to hear people say it. Pro-choice feminists may like to claim women will be in dire and desperate need were Planned Parenthood to go out of business, but the truth is many businesses offer real health care for women. Pregnancy resource centers, for instance, often offer free counseling, parenting classes and more for mothers dealing with unplanned pregnancies.
I hope these truths convince you that Planned Parenthood is one big oxy moron.
As Dr. O'Bannon solemnly stated, "Abortion is one commitment they consider non-negotiable."

Next Generation Science Standards: Common Core, Proponents of evolution and manmade climate change are ecstatic about the Common Core science standards. Climate change is accepted as manmade in the standards and children must accept this notion.

Climate Change and Evolution
It took three years for a group of committees to develop Common Core Science Standards, which are called “Next Generation Science Standards” (NGSS). The National Research Council and Washington-based Achieve, the group that produced the Common Core English and math standards, also managed the development of Common Core science standards.

Those who decided to call Common Core (CC) Science standards “Next Generation Science Standards” may have done so to dissociate their work from Common Core. Common Core has gained a negative reputation and is increasingly associated with failure, as the public has learned what federalized standards actually mean to the future of math and English K-12 education in America.

CC science creators and proponents claim the standards were created by the states. They made the same untrue claim about CC English and math standards. To give the science claim some credibility, 26 states were allowed some input into science standards. Each of those states “was required to form a broad-based group to review the standards, including representatives of K-12 education and higher education, as well as of the science and business communities.” (Education Week, 5-14-12) The key word here is “review.” These state committees gave feedback, but they did not develop the standards.

Stephen Pruitt, who managed the standards-development process for Achieve, indicated to Education Week that “the feedback from states has been taken very seriously, and many changes have been made to the draft document based upon it.” He added, “[T]he standards must remain true to the National Resource Council framework.”

The science standards, like those for math and English, are not based on empirical evidence of efficacy nor are they tested in any environment. They are fresh out of the box and will be field-tested statewide in any state that signs on

Climate Literacy: The Essential Principles of Climate Science

Guiding Principle: Humans can take actions to reduce climate change and its impacts

A.Climate information can be used to reduce vulnerabilities or enhance the resilience of communities and ecosystems affected by climate change. Continuing to improve scientific understanding of the climate system and the quality of reports to policy and decision-makers is crucial.

C.The impacts of climate change may affect the security of nations. Reduced availability of water, food, and land can lead to competition and conflict among humans, potentially resulting in large groups of climate refugees.

D.Humans may be able to mitigate climate change or lessen its severity by reducing greenhouse gas concentrations through processes that move carbon out of the atmosphere or reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

E.A combination of strategies is needed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The most immediate strategy is conservation of oil, gas, and coal, which we rely on as fuels for most of our transportation, heating, cooling, agriculture, and electricity. Short-term strategies involve switching from carbon-intensive to renewable energy sources, which also requires building new infrastructure for alternative energy sources. Long-term strategies involve innovative research and a fundamental change in the way humans use energy.

F.Humans can adapt to climate change by reducing their vulnerability to its impacts. Actions such as moving to higher ground to avoid rising sea levels, planting new crops that will thrive under new climate conditions, or using new building technologies represent adaptation strategies. Adaptation often requires financial investment in new or enhanced research, technology, and infrastructure.

G.Actions taken by individuals, communities, states, and countries all influence climate. Practices and policies followed in homes, schools, businesses, and governments can affect climate. Climate-related decisions made by one generation can provide opportunities as well as limit the range of possibilities open to the next generation. Steps toward reducing the impact of climate change may influence the present generation by providing other benefits such as improved public health infrastructure and sustainable built environments.

4.Climate varies over space and time through both natural and man-made processes. G.Natural processes that remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere operate slowly when compared to the processes that are now adding it to the atmosphere. Thus, carbon dioxide introduced into the atmosphere today may remain there for a century or more. Other greenhouse gases, including some created by humans, may remain in the atmosphere for thousands of years.

Changes in Environments
Changes in environments can be natural or influenced by humans. Some changes are good, some are bad, and some are neither good nor bad. Pollution is a change in the environment that can influence the health, survival, or activities of organisms, including humans.

A Framework for K-12 Science Education
By the end of grade 5: If Earth's global mean temperature continues to rise, the lives of humans and other organisms will be affected in many different ways. (Core Idea: Earth and Space Science 3.D)
Human activities in agriculture, industry, and everyday life have had major effects on land, vegetation, streams, oceans, air and even outer space. But individuals and communities are doing things to help protect Earth’s resources and environments. For example, they are treating sewage, reducing the amounts of materials they use, and regulating sources of pollution such a emissions from factories and power plants or the runoff from agricultural activities. (Core Idea: Earth and Space Science 3.C)

Research on a problem should be carried out-for example, through Internet searches, market research, or field observations-before beginning to design a solution. An often productive way to generate ideas is for people to work together to brainstorm, test, and refine possible solutions. (Core Idea: Engineering, Technology, and Applications of Science, ETS 1.B)

By the end of grade 8: Human activities have significantly altered the biosphere, sometimes damaging or destroying natural habitats and causing the extinction of many other species. But changes to Earth’s environments can have different impacts (negative and positive) for different living things. Typically, as human populations and per-capita consumption of natural resources increase, so do the negative impacts on Earth unless the activities and technologies involved are engineered otherwise. (Core Idea: Earth and Space Science 3.C)

Human activities, such as the release of greenhouse gases from burning fossil fuels, are major factors in the current rise in Earth’s mean surface temperature (global warming). (Core Idea: Earth and Space Science 3.D)

The more precisely a design task’s criteria and constraints can be defined, the more likely it is that the designed solution will be successful. (Core Idea: Engineering, Technology, and Applications of Science, ETS 1.A)

A solution needs to be tested, and then modified on the basis of the test results, in order to improve it. Models of all kinds are important for testing solutions, and computers are a valuable tool for simulating systems. Simulations are useful for predicting what would happen if various parameters of the model were changed, as well as for making improvements to the model based on peer and leader (e.g., teacher) feedback. (Core Idea: Engineering, Technology, and Applications of Science, ETS 1.B)

By the end of grade 12: Anthropogenic changes (induced by human activity) in the environment - including habitat destruction, pollution, introduction of invasive species, overexploitation, and climate change - can disrupt an ecosystem and threaten the survival of some species

(Core Idea: Life Science 2.C)
Changes in the atmosphere due to human activity have increased carbon dioxide concentrations and thus affect climate.

(Core Idea: Life Science 2.D)
Humanity faces major global challenges today, such as the need for supplies of clean water and food or for energy sources that minimize pollution, which can be addressed through engineering.

(Core Idea: Engineering, Technology, and Applications of Science, ETS 1.A)

Scientists and engineers can make major contributions-for example, by developing technologies that produce less pollution and waste and that preclude ecosystem degradation. When the source of an environmental problem is understood...human activities can be regulated to mitigate global impacts (e.g., acid rain and the ozone hole near Antarctica).

(Core Idea: Earth and Space Science 3.C)
Both physical models and computers can be used in various ways to aid in the engineering design process. (Core Idea: Engineering, Technology, and Applications of Science, ETS 1.B)

Common Core State Standards for Mathematical Practices
1.Make sense of problems and persevere in solving them.

2.Reason abstractly and quantitatively.

3.Model with mathematics.

4.Use appropriate tools strategically.

5.Attend to precision.

6.Look for and express regularity in repeated reasoning.

44th Annual National Right to Life Convention kicks off in Bluegrass State Right-To-Life Activists Stand For Life in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, KY – As the 44th Annual National Right to Life Convention kicks off in Louisville’s historic Galt House, the mood among the diverse group of right-to-life activists is infectiously energetic. First held in Macalester College in St. Paul, MN, in 1971, the annual National Right to Life Convention brings together grassroots leaders of the right-to-life movement to exchange ideas, share information, learn from leading experts, and join together in the common goal of restoring legal protection for all innocent human life.

Every year we see more faces and younger faces attending the National Right to Life Convention, which is consistent with numerous polls demonstrating that Americans increasingly reject the extreme pro-abortion agenda being pushed by the abortion industry,” said National Right to Life President Carol Tobias. “With over one million unborn children aborted every year in America, the activist ranks are swelling with those who respect our most basic human right: The right to life.”

Tackling and tearing down the “war on women” rhetoric being employed by the abortion industry, the convention begins this morning with a panel discussion moderated by Tobias and featuring National Review Online Editor-at-Large Kathryn Jean Lopez, EWTN radio and television host Joy Pinto, and Lutherans for Life founder Dr. Jean Garton.

“The real war on women is being waged by an abortion industry that cares more about its financial bottom line than it does the women they claim to serve,” added Tobias.

As the convention, themed “Stand for Life,” begins, public opinion polls continue to reflect what the growing crowd already demonstrates: A majority of Americans reject the idea that abortion should be widely available for any reason. A Gallup poll released last month found that just 39% were in favor of the current abortion-on-demand policy with 28% saying abortion should be legal under any circumstances and 11% saying abortion should be legal under most circumstances. A substantial majority, 58%, believe abortion she be legal in only a few circumstances (37%) or illegal in all circumstances (21%).

Saturday morning, the Bluegrass State’s own Sen. Mitch McConnell will rally attendees at a general session. Kentucky Congressmen Brett Guthrie (R-KY2) and Andy Barr (R-KY6) will also speak Saturday morning.

This is the first time that the annual gathering has come to Louisville. The Kentucky Right to Life Association (www.krla.org), the Bluegrass State’s National Right to Life affiliate, is serving as host for this year’s convention. The annual National Right to Life convention features more than 70 workshops, five general sessions, prayer breakfast and closing keynote banquet. A concurrent National Teens For Life Convention is also being held with sessions geared toward nurturing and educating the next generation of pro-life leaders.

Journalists who wish to cover the convention, must receive credentials from the National Right to Life Communications Department. To register for credentials, please contact Tatiana Bergum at the NRLC 2014 Press Office at (202) 642-1675 or emailmediarelations@nrlc.org.

ABOUT NATIONAL RIGHT TO LIFE COMMITTEE

Founded in 1968, the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC), the federation of 50 state right-to-life affiliates and more than 3,000 local chapters, is the nation’s oldest and largest grassroots pro-life organization. Recognized as the flagship of the pro-life movement, NRLC works through legislation and education to protect innocent human life from abortion, infanticide, assisted suicide and euthanasia.

ABOUT KENTUCKY RIGHT TO LIFE ASSOCIATION

Kentucky Right to Life Association (KRLA), founded in 1973, serves as the state coordinating body for local Right to Life Chapters representing tens of thousands of Kentucky citizens. The state affiliate of the National Right to Life Committee, KRLA exists to restore legal protection to those members of our human family who are threatened by abortion, infanticide, or euthanasia. Diverse though we are, we hold one common belief: that every human being has an inalienable right to life, a life that is precious and must be protected.

OBAMA’S MANUFACTURED BORDER CRISIS: 250 CHILDREN APPREHENDED PER DAY

The surge of illegals seeking the amnesty they are entirely correct to believe Barack Obama will give them is staggering in its dimensions.  The Washington Free Beacon has some staggering numbers from Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson’s testimony this week:

The number of illegal children crossing the border has more than doubled since last year, when some 24,000 unaccompanied minors were apprehended. More than 52,000 illegal children have crossed from October to mid-June, according to Johnson, who admitted that the unprecedented influx is stressing DHS resources at the border.

More than 250 children are being apprehended every day along the southern border; U.S. Customs and Border Patrol estimates that more than 150,000 unaccompanied children will illegally enter the U.S. in the next year.
The massive wave of illegal border crossing has taxed DHS and CBP in the past several months and prompted outrage on Capitol Hill, where lawmakers maintain that the Obama administration’s lax immigration policies have fueled the influx.
“The president needs to immediately send the National Guard to the southwest border to deal with this crisis,” said Rep. Michael McCaul (R., Texas), the Homeland Security Committee’s chair. “Patrol stations are not set up to handle this massive and growing number of detainees. Let alone children.”
“This is a crisis. It’s a crisis that’s been in the making for years,” McCaul said. “One that we should have seen coming. But few concrete actions have been taken. The Department of Homeland Security and the United States government as a whole has been slow to act, turning a blind eye to the warning signs.”
Let us pause to note, as observed previously, that some of these “children” are well into their teen years, and quite a few of the older ones are gang members.
Citing a report that says 95 percent of the new arrivals said they came because they (again, correctly) believe women with children, and unaccompanied minors, get a free pass into the United States, House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte said on Wednesday, “Apparently, word has gotten out that once encountered by Border Patrol agents and processed, thanks to this Administration’s lax enforcement policies, one will likely never be removed.”  He quoted the former Immigration and Customs Enforcement director’s assessment that “if you are a run-of-the-mill immigrant here illegally, your odds of getting deported are close to zero.”
“It is often said that Nero fiddled while Rome burned.  Unfortunately, it seems Obama fiddles while our borders implode.” Goodlatte added.
Both McCaul and Goodlatte are being far too polite.  President Obama and his ideological fellow travelers wanted this.  They weren’t blindsided when tens of thousands of people showed up to accept the invitation Obama extended.  An ad placed by the Department of Homeland Security in January to hire “escorts” for the “resettlement” of approximately 65,000 unaccompanied alien minors tells us there were preparations being made months ago, and those preparations manifestly did not include deportation.  Obama isn’t fiddling while the border implodes; he’s watching the illegal alien surge disperse across the United States, becoming effectively impossible to reverse, and checking off a box on his “transformation of America” to-do list.
The amount of pressure these new youthful “refugees” will bring to bear against opponents of Obama’s immigration agenda will be staggering.  You’ve heard it before, and you’ll hear it again, even louder: we can’t possibly deport these people, we can’t let them live in the shadows, they became “undocumented Americans” (the new term of art) the instant their feet hit our soil, we have to give them educational benefits so these young “Dreamers” can realize their full potential, it would be inhumane to lock them out of our social welfare system, we can’t very well have them overwhelming hospital emergency rooms so they’ll need ObamaCare coverage…
Pick out any story about illegal immigrant activists from the last few years, then add a few hundred thousand children to the population they’re talking about, and imagine what’s going to happen to anyone who resists their demands.  This isn’t an unanticipated side-effect of Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program – it was the point of the exercise, along with the usual political pandering.
Even those who don’t appreciate the fine points of Obama’s Cloward-Piven strategy to force collectivist “reforms” by overwhelming (small-r) republican systems wouldn’t have to be geniuses to anticipate the response Rep. Goodlatte described.  Not only would common sense anticipate it, but opponents of amnesty have been tirelessly warning about it for years.  As with gun control, the stubborn and arrogant refusal to hear what the other side is saying has led to disaster.
Crime is almost always based on a cost/benefit analysis.  When the benefits of crime far outweigh the risk of capture and punishment, it gets worse.  This is a true for violation of American immigration law as for any other law.  Remember what happened when liberals pretended to forget that criminals are largely rational, and rewrote the justice system to treat crime as the unstoppable result of social pathologies caused by the selfish actions of law-abiding people?
The “soft” apologists for illegal immigration – those who aren’t active supporters of the Cloward-Piven attack on our system – made the same mistake when they assumed violations of immigration law wouldn’t get worse when the cost/benefit analysis shifted.  The increased “benefit” of escaping from mis-governed gang-infested Central American hellholes is surely part of the equation too… but again, that situation is no surprise whatsoever to the President of the United States, with powerful intelligence services at his disposal.
There’s also some cost/benefit analysis going on when corrupt American politicians decide which constituency to serve.  To put things in economic terms, the marginal benefit of expending political capital on behalf of American citizens, to protect the border and defend the integrity of citizenship, is very low, especially for Democrats.  They view it as a thankless task.  Border security is one of those things nobody notices when it’s working.  The people most likely to appreciate it are largely constituencies Democrats have either written off, or actively dislike.  But the marginal benefit of bringing in a wave of illegal aliens and working on their behalf is gigantic: more warm bodies to give Democrats leverage against the American taxpayer, more potential voters, cheap labor for the Chamber of Commerce crowd, and the delightful benefit of being able to slander your opponents as racists for refusing to get on board.  You can see similar cost/benefit analyses grinding behind the foreheads of politicians when just about any unprofitable duty to the American people comes up, but it’s particularly noticeable in this case.
How effectively is Obama’s Cloward-Piven attack overwhelming the system?  The feds want to house the tidal wave of migratory children in the Border Patrol Academy.  Fox News reports:
The Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Artesia, a sprawling campus in the arid dirt plains of western New Mexico known for oil and dairy farms, could soon house hundreds of children and families that have crossed the southwest border. Tens of thousands of immigrants have crossed in through Mexico primarily from Central America, where they appear to have been led to believe that once in the U.S., they will be allowed to stay. The government is scrambling to accommodate them, but some critics say putting them up in the academy turns government policy on its head.
“Where they appear to have been led to believe that once in the U.S., they will be allowed to stay?”  Is even Fox News so nervous about stating the obvious truth that it must be reduced to goo-goo ga-ga baby talk in its news articles?
“Housing illegal aliens who have taken advantage of lax immigration enforcement on the same base where Border Patrol candidates are being trained to enforce our laws is a mixed message,” said Bob Dane, spokesman for the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). “It’s a real life lesson – and a demoralizing one – for men and women who have sworn to uphold the law only to be stymied by political pressure from the Obama administration.”
Yes, I suppose having your law-enforcement academy commandeered to serve as a boarding facility for lawbreakers – until such time as they can be granted amnesty and sent on their merry – is rather demoralizing.  Don’t think that’s entirely accidental, either.  The ideological war against American citizenship, which is an aspect of the Left’s endless war against taxpayers, gains ground when it creates the impression that law and order are futile.
Victor Manjarrez, the retired chief of the U.S. Border Patrol sectors of Tucson and El Paso, among the busiest in the country, said he can’t understand how training of border agents can take place in the very facility where Uncle Sam is putting up illegal aliens.
“It seems ironic that the detainees will be held at the same location where Border Patrol Agents are trained,” Manjarrez said. “Operations will be disrupted just in the fact that the focus is not strictly training.”
Shawn Moran, vice president of the National Border Patrol Council, said he doesn’t mind the federal government using the facility to handle illegal aliens – as long as they are processed and sent back to where they came from.
“While the choice of the Border Patrol academy may seem ironic, if it means that illegal aliens will be processed, detained, and then deported we would not oppose the choice of that site,” Moran said. “The important detail is to make sure we close the loophole bringing these groups to the US by not releasing them into society.”
Dear Lord, is there anyone who still believes this will all end with military transport planes full of illegal alien children, plus a sprinkling of their mothers, taking off for Honduras and Guatemala?  If something even remotely resembling that repatriation airlift does happen, it will be because Obama was forced into it by pressure from terrified Democrats, who were forced to demand action by their enraged constituents… and they’ll have to yell loud enough to overcome both Obama’s ideology and the interest groups (including Big Business) who would oppose mass deportation with every ounce of their energy.
If anywhere near half of the underage illegal tsunami gets sent home, it would be a miracle.  According to information presented at Rep. Goodlatte’s House Judiciary hearing, ICE hasn’t been able to deport more than 2,000 unaccompanied minors in a single year since 2011.  That’s not even 2 percent of what’s coming at us over the next year.  That won’t do much to “correct” the “misinformation” being distributed by smugglers to lure illegals across the border (as the hot new talking point among Obama apologists puts it.)
Other sites around the country are being designated by the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Refugee Settlement for more permanent lodging. Those plans have drawn the ire of residents who don’t want an influx of unaccompanied alien children sent here in a bid to reunite with their parents and thus given refugee status, dropped in their midst. A plan to turn St. Paul’s College, a shuttered college in Lawrenceville, Va., into temporary emergency shelter for about 500 children was scuttled last week after backlash from local residents and officials.
Cloward-Piven at the Border Patrol Academy, Cloward-Piven at your quaint and shuttered local college, Cloward-Piven at the Department of Homeland Security – which the deputy chief of the Border Patrol warned could be “overwhelmed” if “the flow is not stemmed soon.”  Yes, this is a massive national security threat, on top of the political, economic, and humanitarian damage.
There isn’t much chance of effective action being taken if the American people accept the Administration spin that this is basically a natural disaster outside of their control, caused by human traffickers who didn’t read Obama’s executive orders carefully enough. To understand what a load of bull that is, you need only listen to what the new arrivals are saying.  Many of them are getting their read on the U.S. immigration situation from friends and relatives inside the United States, not opportunistic smugglers.  Here’s the story one of the kids told CBS News in Houston:
On the last day of school Gladys Chinoy memorized her mother’s phone number in New York City and boarded a bus to Guatemala’s northern border.
With nothing but the clothes on her back, the 14-year-old took a truck-tire raft across the Naranjo River into Mexico and joined a group of five women and a dozen children waiting with one of the smugglers who are paid $6,000 to $7,000 for each migrant they take to the U.S.
The women and children waited by the train tracks in this small town in the southern state of Chiapas until the shriek of a train whistle and the glare of headlights pierced the night. Suddenly, dozens of teens and mothers with young children flooded out of darkened homes and budget hotels, rushing to grab the safest places on the roof of the northbound freight train and join a deluge of children and mothers that is overwhelming the U.S. immigration system.
[...] The belief that women and children can safely surrender to authorities the moment they set foot in the U.S. has changed the calculus of tens of thousands of parents who no longer worry about their children finishing the dangerous trip north through Mexico with a potentially deadly multiday hike through the desert Southwest.
The United States is giving us a great opportunity because now, with this new law, we don’t have to try to cross the desert where so many people die. We can hand ourselves over directly to the authorities,” Gladys said, adding that she hopes to become a doctor.
The smiling teenager with long black hair said she was more excited about seeing her mother again than she was scared about the trip. Her mother said she was aware of the dangers but finally decided the risk was worth it after five years apart.
Reached by phone at home, the mother said she decided to send for her daughter because “if she gets across she can stay here, that’s what you hear.”
“Now they say that all children need to do is hand themselves over to the Border Patrol,” said the mother, who declined to provide her name because she is in the U.S. illegally.
They got the message Barack Obama and the rest of the amnesty caucus sent them, loud and clear.  They’re not making a mistake.  Young Miss Chinoy’s odds of ending up at aWhite House ceremony are higher than her odds of getting shipped back to Guatemala.
Convene a bipartisan panel of expert commentators on American politics, from across the political spectrum.  Make it as big as you like.  Ask the panel if they think a “comprehensive immigration reform” plan including amnesty for at least young illegals, imposed by either Congress or executive fiat, is likely.  Ask them if they think it’s probably going to be a one-time deal that only affects minors brought here before a certain year, never to be repeated.  Ask them if they think any sort of border security “trigger” would be allowed to reverse the process once it begins.  And with those answers in hand, tell me again how the wave of illegal aliens surging across our borders have gotten everything wrong, and made a futile journey based on misinformation.

Cloward-Piven Everywhere And barely time to think.

The Obama administration-driven calamity at this nation’s southern border
is no naivetĂ©-caused accident. Instead, it’s the latest manifestation of
what clear-eyed observers must recognize is just one of many concerted
attempts to overwhelm this nation’s institutions and its social,
psychological and physical infrastructure for the apparent purpose of
leaving it permanently weakened and fundamentally changed.
Conscious
or not — and I would argue in most cases that it is quite conscious —
what we’re seeing is a comprehensive application of the left’s
long-championed Cloward-Piven strategy.
The
folklore behind the strategy claims that its enunciation by Richard A.
Cloward and Frances Fox Piven “only” involved collapsing the welfare
system to create a political climate receptive to the idea of a
“guaranteed annual income,” and — presto! — “an end to poverty.”

The idea advanced in the couple’s May 1966 column in The Nationwas
to have those whom they saw as naively self-reliant recognize that they
were legally entitled to receive benefits and to have them apply for
public assistance en masse. This would “produce bureaucratic disruption
in welfare agencies and fiscal disruption in local and state
governments,” thus requiring a federal solution which would, in their fevered minds, “eliminate poverty by the outright redistribution of income.”

The
folklore also contends that the strategy didn’t work. That’s not really
true. It really did collapse the system in one city, and it permanently
changed national attitudes towards public assistance. As James Simpsonobserved at American Thinker in September 2008 (still-working links are in the original):

Capitalizing on the racial unrest of the 1960s, Cloward and Piven saw the welfare system as their first target.

… According to a City Journal article by Sol Stern
welfare rolls increased from 4.3 million to 10.8 million by the
mid-1970s as a result, and in New York City, where the strategy had been
particularly successful, “one person was on the welfare rolls … for
every two working in the city’s private economy.”
…
The vast expansion of welfare in New York City that came of …
Cloward-Piven tactics sent the city into bankruptcy in 1975. Rudy
Giuliani cited Cloward and Piven by name as being responsible for “an
effort at economic sabotage.” He also credited Cloward-Piven with
changing the cultural attitude toward welfare from that of a temporary
expedient to a lifetime entitlement, an attitude which in-and-of-itself
has caused perhaps the greatest damage of all.
That damage includes welfare-driven family breakups and sky-high out-of-wedlock birth rates.

Cloward
and Piven targeted other applications from the very beginning. The
authors telegraphed their broader intent in that infamous 1966 column
(italics are theirs):
"We
tend to overlook the force of crisis in precipitating legislative
reform, partly because we lack a theoretical framework by which to
understand the impact of major disruptions.
"By crisis, we mean a publicly visible disruption
in some institutional sphere. Crisis can occur spontaneously (e.g.,
riots) or as the intended result of tactics of demonstration and protest
which either generate institutional disruption or bring unrecognized
disruption to public attention. Public trouble is a political liability,
it calls for action by political leaders to stabilize the situation.
Because crisis usually creates or exposes conflict, it threatens to
produce cleavages in a political consensus which politicians will
ordinarily act to avert."
Former Obama adviser and now Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s oft-citedstatement that “you never let a serious crisis go to waste” is in no way an original thought.

The
left has long since figured out that focusing Cloward-Piven on only one
aspect of society at a time is nowhere near as effective as applying it
on multiple fronts over time. The strategy’s specific applications
arguably include at least the following:
  • The 2008 financial meltdown. The
run-up to the 2008 financial meltdown and the accompanying recession
was driven by the Community Reinvestment Act, which was eventually
toughened to the point of effectively compelling banks to make trillions
of dollars in mortgage loans to objectively unqualified buyers.
“Government-sponsored enterprises” Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac made the
problem exponentially worse by systematically deceiving the securities
markets and their shareholders about the underlying quality of loans
they purchased from mortgage lenders. As a result, we now have
Dodd-Frank, the completely unaccountable Consumer Financial Protection

  • Bureau, a mortgage lending market where even the simplest transaction

  • takes several months to complete, and a homebuilding industry seemingly
destined to indefinitely remain a shadow of its former self.
  • Record deficits and national debt buildup. Despite
the stock market arguing to the contrary, the roughly $6 trillion in
deficits deliberately rung up during Obama’s presidency, along with a
nearly $7 trillion increase in the national debt, have the financial
system again on the verge of implosion. Will the Federal Reserve really
ever be able to liquidate its over $4 trillion in holdings of government
and mortgage securities without causing the economy to grind to a halt?
  • Social Security and Medicare.
  • Despite
changing demographics, these programs have barely been touched since
their inception. Their status quo is indisputably unsustainable in the
long run. Leftist opposition to any change whatsoever to either is best
seen as a slow-motion Cloward-Piven effort to guarantee their failure.
  • Obamacare. The
  • Affordable Care Act’s hopelessly incompetent rollout, ongoing
management nightmares and constantly changing arbitrary rules appear to
have been concocted to impose utter chaos on
the health care system and ultimately to bring about a single-payer,
i.e., government-run, system. If that’s really so, early returns
indicate that it’s working, as the statist regime’s drag on the economy —
and not this winter’s miserable weather — was a primary cause of the
economy’s recently estimated 2 percent annualized first-quarter contraction.

  • The IRS scandal. Cloward-Piven
is now being used by those in power to destroy the opposition. The IRS
scandal is best understood as a scheme to bulldoze opponents with
time-consuming, burdensome bureaucratic barriers and harassment at the
hands of an agency with apparently unlimited resources — at least for
    this priority.

  • Regulation. Along
those same lines, in recent years the federal government’s regulatory
apparatus, whose employees were originally more interested in job
preservation, now appear to have taken to rolling over their targets
with costly, voluminous and virtually indecipherable rules
restrictions, harassing litigation, and aggressive demonization
Post-recession start-up activity and new employment arising from those
efforts are both at record lows. Who wants to get big enough to get
noticed by the administration’s regulatory thugs?

  • Scandal exhaustion. The
sheer volume of serious Obama administration scandals seems to comprise

  • a Cloward-Piven attempt to overwhelm opponents. With so many scandals

  • out there, no single outrage can generate concerted, sufficiently
visible opposition. Those who contend that this situation is not
deliberate apparently expect us to believe that the original volunteered
appearances on the same day in
May 2013 of the IRS scandal and the Department of Justice’s admission
that it monitored phone records at the Associated Press represented some

  • kind of odd coincidence.
Not
every Cloward-Piven attempt has been successful. In retrospect, the
late-1990s Internet bubble, largely caused by a deliberately asleep at
the switch Securities and Exchange Commission which allowed scores of
companies with no history and no chance of success to go public, may
have been designed to bring about a financial crisis. The trouble with
that strategy is that “the wrong guy” won the 2000 election. Even so,
that debacle helped give us the economy-stifling mountain of busywork
known as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
For
all practical purposes, Cloward-Piven is now a staple of leftist
electoral campaign strategy. As one commenter recently noted (I
unfortunately lost track of where it originated), the Obama reelection
campaign’s 2012 strategy “wasn’t just to publish propaganda, but to
publish (and) distribute propaganda in such magnitudes that that folks
didn’t even have to think about it, they would just foam at the mouth at
the mere mention of (Mitt) Romney’s name.”
As to the recent wave of “Unaccompanied Alien Children” — that’s the Department of Homeland Security’s term
not mine — make no mistake. President Barack Obama and his advisers had

to know that hordes of unaccompanied children would be sent to cross
our southern border when he unilaterally imposed “Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals” in June of 2012. Despite seeing its results, Homeland Security renewed DACA for two more years earlier this month. The default assumption simply must be that “Obama is using these children as pawns to implement his goal of universal citizenship for illegal immigrants.”

In other words, it’s Cloward-Piven, yet again.

Comment:
Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven, both of whom were socialists,
were a husband and wife team of Sociology professors at Columbia
University, and the ultimate aim of their strategy was to overwhelm and
collapse the "capitalist" economy of the U.S., forcing us to a
Euro-style socialism. That Barack Obama attended Columbia while both
Cloward and Piven were alive is no coincidence, and is most likely one
of the major reasons that his transcripts are "untouchable" -- it is
highly likely that he took one or more courses from both of them. From
the results of his economic policies it is clear the he is implementing
the Cloward-Piven strategy from the top down.
