David Axelrod Calls on Obama to Release Libya Emails

Wednesday morning on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," guest panelist Steve Rattner, a former New York Times reporter who believes the biggest scandal of the three currently facing the White House is Benghazi, asked David Axelrod what he believes the Administration should do to try and get out from under the scandal. Axelrod said, "I think they would benefit from getting all these emails out in public."

The emails Axelrod, an Obama confidante who now works for MSNBC, is referencing are those surrounding the shaping of the CIA talking points that occurred between that agency, the State Department, and the White House prior to Susan Rice's now-infamous round-robin of five Sunday talk shows.
The talking points are not only controversial because they were completely wrong, but also because the White House is leaning on them to excuse their misleading of the American people for almost two weeks where they insisted the September 11 attack on our Libya consulate had nothing to do with terrorism.
Tuesday, both CNN and ABC News called for the release of the emails.
New Media has been demanding to see these emails since last September.

Select Committee on Benghazi Would Allow 'Laser Beam' Focus, Republicans Say

(CNSNews.com) - Calls are growing for the House of Representatives to approve special select committee to focus solely on the Benghazi terror attack -- what led up to it and how the administration responded to it.

"It is the only way we will ever learn the truth," Rep. Frank Wolf (R-Va.) said last week in a letter urging House Speaker John Boehner to bring Wolf's resolution to the floor for a vote.

Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-Fla.) says Wolf is right. The problem right now is that five different committees are looking into Benghazi, which fragments the investigation, she told Fox  News's Greta Van Susteren Tuesday night. "But this (select) committee would be focusing like a laser beam on that particular subject and nothing else."

As the former chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Ros-Lehtinen admitted it took her some time to reach the conclusion that a select committee is warranted.

Although the Foreign Affairs Committee has broad jurisdiction, "that means we are master of nothing," she said. "We deal with the threat in North Korea. We deal with the nuclear buildup in Iran. We deal with the humanitarian catastrophe in Syria, Venezuela post-Chavez. You name it. It's like whack-a-mole."

Putting the investigation in the hands of one committee would give members more time to question witnesses. "You know how it is in Congress, Greta. We each get five minutes, and each of us is asking a different thing. So it's hard to pin down these witnesses and get them to answer the hard questions."

Ros-Lehtinen said Speaker Boehner is reluctant to form a select committee because he thinks it will politicize the investigation. But, she added, "Everything that we do is political and every stand we take is political, every vote we take is political. It doesn't mean it's in the bad sense of the word."

The congresswoman said forming a select committee would not "demean the work" of Rep. Darrell Issa, who chairs the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.

"He's been doing a wonderful job," she said. "But he will be doing something else tomorrow, as well he should because there is so much going on."

Rep. Wolf's measure, H. Res. 36, currently has 146 co-sponsors.
